1st Stone Scout Group can trace its roots back to 1910, just three years after the inception of Scouting by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, when Ronald Copeland started the first Scout Troop in the town. Once based at Christ Church’s hall, the group was affiliated to the church itself and still uses ‘Christ Church’ in its name.
The group is now based at The Old Pump House on Westbridge Park and has been since the Cycling Club left in the 1990s. The HQ is home to Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Stone Scout & Guide Band.
While groups are unable to meet due to Coronavirus restrictions in England, The Pump House is undergoing some much-needed improvements, supported by local businesses and Stafford Borough Council.
We aim to make Scouting as accessible as possible, but as with other youth organisations the opportunities we provide do come at a cost. You can find out more about our membership fees by following the link below.
